Scott Saadey: Grasshopper Basketball Logo

This logo was designed for the January 2024 run of J.A.M.A. Jam. For this month's theme, "Bug", I wanted to design a logo for a fictional basketball team with a grasshopper mascot, the Green Bay Grasshoppers. The vector logo was designed in Adobe Illustrator.

I wanted to design a mark that replicated the look of sports logos from the late 1960s and 1970s, those of which mainly incorporated a cartoon mascot as the primary logomark of the team. My goal was to make a character design that was somewhat awkward-looking, as many cartoon logos of the era were. 

Despite the logo being a vector drawing, I wanted to keep certain imperfections in the design and play around with lineweight to give the logo the impression that it was hand-drawn and later scanned. All in all, I had a lot of fun putting this together and I'm pretty happy with how it came out.
